We combine deep subject matter expertise, evidence-based methodologies, skills and workforce intelligence, applied AI and data, and human-centered technology to move from insight to implementation.
Our capabilities have been developed and proven through more than two decades of work in workforce environments including military-involved populations. Today, we apply that expertise across systems, additional populations, and industries, making skills and experience more visible, trusted, portable, and actionable.
Our Story
SOLID was founded in 2003 by Lisa Lutz, Tom Caldwell, and Jeff Lutz, with a belief that complex information could be made more useful—helping people better understand their experience, skills, and opportunities. What began as a small business supporting military education and workforce programs grew into a trusted partner helping organizations solve complex challenges at the intersection of learning, skills, credentials, technology, and work.
Over more than two decades, our work with the military community has given us deep expertise in understanding learning and work, translating specialized experience, connecting skills to credentials and career pathways, and building technology that puts that information into action. Those challenges have shaped who we are and helped us develop approaches that can be applied far beyond any one population or sector.
In 2024, SOLID became an employee-owned company, marking an important next chapter as our founders began transitioning away from day-to-day leadership. Employee ownership created a path to preserve the culture, expertise, and commitment to clients that built SOLID while giving the people carrying that work forward a direct stake in its future.
Today, we are building on that foundation. We continue to serve the military and federal communities that have been central to our history while expanding our capabilities and partnerships across education, workforce development, industry, and other sectors. As workforce needs evolve—and advances in AI, data, and technology create new possibilities—we are applying SOLID’s deep expertise in new ways to help organizations understand skills, strengthen pathways, and connect people to opportunity.
