Army Credentialing Assistance Counselors are SOLID personnel that provide one-on-one counseling, information and referrals, and consultation to service members and their families regarding the Army Credentialing Assistance (CA) program.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of soldier development programs, career guidance and planning techniques.  
  • Follow clearly detailed and specific procedures in accordance with site Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or similar written directive provided by the Government.
  • Determine and document soldier’s education goals, develop individual education plans (IEP) to achieve those goals, and monitor progress toward those goals in accordance with Army Regulations and/or current written directives.  
  • Assess requests for information and support; provide information and referral services, as needed.
  • Determine the correlation between Army MOSs, training, skills, etc. to civilian credentials.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions via face to face or electronic methods (e.g., live video/live chat, etc.) to authorized clients (counselor support services will be IAW current Army policy/program guidance, and other pertinent policy).
  • Document all counselor support sessions in accordance with current written directives.
  • Perform administrative duties as needed, to include answering phone calls, editing, and creating PowerPoints, Excel sheets, and Microsoft documents.
  • Adhere to federal and military protocol including confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, related behavioral science, or adult education, OR a combination of demonstrated experience and education in a social science, related behavioral science, or adult education. Twenty-four (24) Semester Hours in at least one of the following: Adult Education, Educational Program Administration, Curriculum Development or Design, Guidance and Counseling, Career Planning, and/or Occupational Information is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in adult education counseling, benefits counseling (active duty or veterans), workforce development, career counseling, or military support programs (e.g., Transition Assistance and Family Employment).
  • Must be a United States citizen.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skilled oral communicator:  Speaks clearly and persuasively; able to apply active listening skills; demonstrates excellent presentation skills.
  • Skilled written communicator: Writes clearly and informatively; able to vary writing style based on requirements and/or audience; able to compile and present quantitative data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.
  • Skilled professional: able to perform under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of status or position; follows through on commitments.
  • Knowledge of and experience with military career counseling and education benefits.
  • Knowledge of Army Military Occupation Specialties (MOS).
  • Knowledge of credentialing, including professional certifications and licensures. 
  • Knowledge of the principles of adult education.
  • Ability to correlate Army MOSs, training, skills, etc. to civilian credentials.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software and demonstrated ability to use software to prepare management reports and provide information.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
