FAIRFAX STATION, VA, November 14, 2022— Last week, U.S. Secretary of Labor Martin J. Walsh recognized Solutions for Information Design, LLC (SOLID) as a recipient of the 2022 HIRE Vets Medallion Award. For the second year in a row SOLID was awarded the platinum level award, the highest of the award categories, which requires employers to meet rigorous employment and integration assistance criteria that demonstrates their commitment to hiring, training, and retaining veterans.
The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes employers who have shown a commitment to hiring veterans and ensuring that they have a long-term career and growth plan that uses the diverse skills acquired through their military service. “At SOLID, we recognize the incredible value of the training, education, and experience veterans bring to the table, and we are proud to have members of our staff who have served in all military Services,” says Lisa Lutz, SOLID President and CEO.
SOLID’s commitment to veterans goes beyond hiring—their primary body of work is in translating military training and experience to civilian credentials and jobs and they maintain numerous longstanding contracts with the Department of Defense to create, manage, and design programs like Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL), SkillBridge, and MilGears. MilGears allows service members and veterans to explore career paths, assess how their current qualifications match up to credential and job requirements so they advance their career goals. Earlier this year, SOLID staff delivered an expansion of the MilGears platform to members of all military services, and the recent award of an Authority to Operate (ATO) will open the door to direct connection to DOD personnel systems, so that users may retrieve their military records for use within the tool.
As recipients of the 2022 HIRE Vets Medallion, SOLID joins other distinguished companies who have shown a commitment to hiring veterans and ensuring that they have a long-term career and growth plan that uses the diverse skills they acquired through their military service.
