Work with SOLID
SOLID, LLC is a Woman-Owned Small Business that provides policy research, occupational analysis, and web development and database management services for government and private sector clients.
What We Do
SOLID has a long-established expertise in occupational analysis, especially as it relates to civilian credentialing and military Service members. Let us leverage that expertise for you.
Whether we help you develop the content or not, SOLID can create a cutting-edge web presence that effectively communicates your key messages to your core audiences. We work to understand your content and your users, and craft responsive sites designed to meet your goals and objectives. After all, Information Design is our middle name.
Research & Analysis
SOLID’s staff of experienced analysts support an array of advanced services. From standalone studies to multi-year research projects, our seasoned analysts can produce the results you need, on time and on budget.
SOLID provides subject matter expertise, cutting-edge research and analysis, design, and sophisticated application development for a variety of clients and projects. While our primary body of work has been in the military to civilian space supporting several long-term contracts with the Department of Defense, the full scope of our work and our team’s capabilities is extensive. Following is just a selection of the projects we support.
Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL)
An Inter-Service Resource Hub Matching Military Occupations to Civilian Credentials
Department of Defense (DOD) Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) is an inter-Service collaboration designed to facilitate credentialing for military Service members and veterans. With unique sites for each Service built on one of the most extensive aggregates of military to civilian occupational and credentialing data worldwide, COOL sites are resource hubs providing opportunities for professional development both during service and beyond.
By matching military occupations to civilian credentials, outlining requirements for obtaining credentials, and providing links to resources, training, and credentialing agencies, COOL allows users a window into the possibilities of their future career. Beyond the target population, credentialing agencies, employers, academic institutions, and recruiters/career counselors can utilize the COOL sites to better understand military training and occupations for their own unique purposes—be it creating military-friendly credentialing programs, assessing skills for job opportunities, advising on academic pathways, or more. These sites also support matching civilian and federal occupations to military occupations and provide information on related funding resources.
Connecting Industry Partners to Transitioning Service members for Fully Funded, Real World Experience in In-Demand Fields
The Department of Defense (DOD) SkillBridge program connects separating military Service members with industry partners, helping them gain invaluable real-world experience for a seamless transition to the civilian workforce. Eligible during the final 180 days of service, Service members enrolled in SkillBridge programs take part in specialized industry training, apprenticeships, or internships in in-demand fields while receiving full military compensation and benefits. A truly mutually beneficial partnership, SkillBridge industry partners get the opportunity to tap into a highly trained, motivated, and dependable population of workers at no cost, while providing indispensable knowledge, training, and on-the-job experience to Service members that can translate to post-service employment opportunities.
A Suite of Tools Empowering Career Planning, Decision Making, and Professional Growth with Customized Assessments and Recommendations
MilGears is an online suite of tools that empower Service members and veterans in career planning, decision making, and professional growth. Powered by the COOL Program, MilGears uses sophisticated logic and an unparalleled database to analyze user input including military and civilian education, training, non-degree credentials, and occupational history to provide a fully customized assessment of the civilian and military careers and credentials that align with their unique qualifications. MilGears X, set to launch Summer 2021, will expand support for all Services, ensuring Service members and veterans can obtain maximum credit for the skills and knowledge obtained throughout their career.
Navy College Program
A Comprehensive Planning Platform that Provides Navy Sailors the Opportunity to Make the Most of Educational Opportunities.
The Navy College Program enables Sailors to receive academic credit for training they receive and work they perform while serving on Active Duty. This includes classes and coursework completed remotely when deployed, including on ships and submarines. The Navy asked SOLID to redesign and redevelop the Navy College Program website as the Navy transitioned from on-base Navy College Offices to virtual support and counseling services that would be provided through the website. SOLID successfully supported the transition, developing a website and online tools that maintained high service levels and Sailor satisfaction during and after the transition.
